( Adventures, adventures )
I got to spend the Christmas holiday in another country — Thailand. The trip was from December 11-27, and those days were the best 7 days of my life. The days were packed with destinations, but it was difficult to get tired, since it was so enjoyable. Throughout the trip, I collected stickers to remember those destinations.
Day 1: Arrival
I remember how thrilled I was that day since it was my first experience traveling out of the country. I knew I had to fasten my seatbelt for the adventurous holiday that was about to untangle. We rode a van on the way to Laoag and waited 3 hours for our flight to Manila. After the 3-hour wait, we proceeded to go back inside the airport for our flight. The time to board then comes. During the flight duration, my ears hurt; it’s a good thing that my mom told me advice about it beforehand. Our next flight was from Manila to Thailand, which we waited another 5 hours for. There was never a dull moment within that time, as we played numerous rounds of Uno. 5 hours came by fast, and it was then the time to board, which I remember being so perked up about. 4 hours came by so fast that I couldn't believe it; I was actually in Thailand now. We ate after checking into the hotel, given how hungry we were after the flight. The day started with us going to the train market; in this market is a train passing by, so the vendors quickly fix their designated area. I have to admit that the train was underwhelming, for it was a lot slower than expected.
Proceeding to the next destination, the floating market. I was confused at first, how could a market float? But that was my bad, I didn't think it through. Along the boat ride, there were plenty of stops, mainly for food. We also stopped by a big souvenir shop, where we got scammed 350 baht for an inhaler.
Our last destination for the day was packed with elephants. I got to ride an elephant. I was so thrilled despite the bumpy ride; there was even a time it went down a pond-like area. It was quite a unique experience.
Day 3: Truly a Dream
Moving on to Dream World, which I believe to live up to its name. The area was full of photogenic scenes, as well as exciting rides. During this time, my adventurous side kicked in, so I rode and tested all of the roller coaster rides. My personal favorite was the black hole, a roller coaster ride where darkness could only be seen. The food stalls are also worth a mention. Furthermore, there were enclosed areas such as Snowland, that I enjoyed the most after the black hole. Being in that area made me grasp the experience of being in actual snow, considering that the Philippines isn't capable of such. With this being said, it is a dream, indeed.
Day 4: Christmas Night Out
In the night, we went to Iconsiam to eat on a cruise. When we arrived, I remember being stunned by the scenery. Not only that, but I also saw popular Thai idols, who are called LYKN. Proceeding to our cruise ride, I had no words. To be able to eat while on a cruise ride means the number of scenery is unlimited. It was such a beautiful experience on Christmas night.
This day was for sure a unique experience, and I am uncertain whether it would happen again. In the afternoon, we seized the opportunity to have a photo shoot while wearing the traditional clothing of Thailand. Wearing it made me realize that their culture is so pretty that I want to dive into it.
Day 6: God's Creations, Indeed
In the afternoon, we went to Nongnooch, a botanical garden in Thailand. I wasn't the biggest fan of plants. Not that I hate it, but I just don't notice it much. The place is well-maintained, I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said that no piece of trash could be found anywhere. After the Nongnooch exploration, we went to watch many plays and performances, with one showing the traditional dance cultures of Thailand. It was interesting, I was intrigued. Another show we watched was the elephant show, wherein smart and trained elephants showcase different skills that people may think only humans can do. Furthermore, another animal show was the dolphin show. This show also showcased how smart and trained animals can be. The last show was The Spy War. This was my personal favorite. All the actors were amazing in playing their roles, and the well-made props made the show more impactful.Day 7: Faith is Beauty
On the last day of our trip, we decided to dedicate ourselves to the exploration of religion. We visited temples and palaces where Buddha is featured. I found the Lying Buddha the most interesting since it was so large. After the afternoon exploration. We went on another cruise for the last time before going back to the Philippines. The cruise trip was so amazing; we felt more connected and comfortable since one of the singers was a Filipina. My relatives danced along, showing signs of contentment and happiness. It was a memorable last day of the trip, indeed.
Throughout the seven days, not only was I able to experience different things I hadn't experienced before, but I also grew closer to my relatives, and I admit I grew far from them when I started puberty. I got to say, it's the best week of my life.
