Embedded Diverse Culture

The Philippines has varied celebrations and holidays every year, such as New Year, Valentine's, Commemoration, and more. However, a question that's worth asking is why Filipinos celebrate Chinese New Year, considering that not everyone has a certain Chinese heritage.? Well, Filipinos observe the celebration of Chinese New Year because of the impact of the Chinese Filipinos (Tsinoys) left in the country, which eventually led to being declared a special holiday.

Many Chinese people immigrate to the

Philippines to start a business, as well as pure Chinese. So, these businesses incorporated the celebration into their businesses by having promotions around it. Also, they incorporate it by getting their areas decorated with red lanterns and gold ornaments. With this, many Filipino citizens got interested in then the idea of the Chinese New Year, and more and more people celebrate the belief that it is said to bring good luck and send away bad luck. So, with the widespread recognition that the celebration got the government of the Philippines declared it a special non-working holiday in 2021.

In conclusion, the influence of the Chinese-Filipino people reached great heights, and the impact caused the celebration's official declaration. Also, the celebration holds so much meaning for both Chinese Filipinos and pure Filipinos that many participants celebrate such events.
